He was born in 1883 in Austria, later Czechoslovakia, married Franziska Yung. They had two daughters, Elice and Marie. They came to live in Australia in 1914 when the girls were aged around 8 and 9 years old, and started the Australian Boot Repair Company in Manly Sydney. Josefs wife died when the girls were 14 and 15 years old. The girls both married Czechs and had children. Josefs eldest daughter (my grandmother), died in childbirth. Josef returned home to Cz. He re married and lived in Lohenice, and had a son, named Josef. Josef died 4/9/1940 aged 57 and is buried in St Field Prelouce CZ .
