Kathleen Sebelius
She is my person of the year. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius's private sector job for the decade prior to becoming a full time politician was "executive director and chief lobbyist for the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association (now Kansas Association for Justice)." Imagine that -- a lobbyist for ambulance chasers put in charge of regulating, reforming and reinventing the healthcare system to improve quality, lower cost and create access for all. You get what you vote for and you elect what you get. You all ain't seen nothing yet -- 2014 is coming. Good luck to all.
If the current administration had an odor, only people with strong stomachs could venture within 20 miles of Washington, D.C.
ReplyDeleteThen's there's the matter of insurance Jess. Since I have seen both sides of the economic spectrum, I know something about public health care and private health care. So let's start with something that our Stanford trained lawyer (Grady) ignores: The cost of medical care in the United States of America BEFORE one dime was spent on Obamacare. Our costs were massive both in total and as a percentage compared to every other country in this world. Why? Because health insurance was available to only those who could "afford" it, and that meant that as one's income went up, the better the health insurance plan as typically companies gave their higher paid workers MUCH better health care insurance options. Therefore the TRUE gap between rich and middle class and poor was even greater than the income numbers. And of course, the TRUE difference between ALL OVERALL taxes paid as a percentage of one's income is 17.4% for the bottom twenty percent and 29,0% for the top 1%.as there are so many REGRESSIVE taxes that are not progressive such as our federal income taxes. So what happened is that at the very top we had unreigned escalating medical costs for the high income strata as compared to much less medical care at lower income levels. With no controls whatsoever over the past 30 years, our medical system became by far the single largest profit driven industry squeezing our other industries that were more productive in the aggregate such as manufacturing. After all, it really isn't that productive keeping someone like my (former) political hero Ronald Regan alive when the man cannot even open his eyes. So what we have had is a system that is only somewhat about health care and somewhat about keeping people employed--which is a system that rewards paperwork skills (women) more than manufacturing skills (men), thereby leading to the deterioration of the nuclear family. One need look no further than African American families where only 25% of the families are two parent. . But the core problem is that this reliance on paperwork in medicine is a downward spiral for our country AND at the same time MILLIONS of hardworking Americans have not even gotten health insurance, (And you can be sure that it isn't people at the top.) In my case, I lost my wife to cancer because we were not able to get health insurance on her because she was involved in two automobile accidents. Moreover, while I was building my business, it would have made all the difference in the world if I could have had paid the percentage of my income for health insurance as I would have now under Obamacare. instead, because we had no insurance, my wife got medical care too late, and here is the worst part. My wife had a surgery that was deemed successful by the pathologists, but the THERE WAS NO FOLLOW UP CHEMO GIVEN because of costs restrictions in the impoverished public health care system of Cook County, Illinois. ...

DeleteYup. You got the right guy. I would post my name, but there isn't any account that I used. If you read the above comments, you will see that two are favored by liberals, three are favored by conservatives, and the other is for the good of the country as the partisanship of Congress is despised by the American public as Congress (according to Real Clear Politics) has a mind blowing SIXTY EIGHT PERCENT DISAPPROVAL RATING, I mean, cmon. Assad has better numbers with the members of SUPREME MILITARY COUNCIL OF THE FREE SYRIAN ARMY than Congress has with the American people. And your unilateral unsophisticated attacks are part of that problem, NOT part of the solution.
